Obituary for the LateDulcie Mary McCallumMcCALLUM (Cross), Dulcie Mary —October 4, 1921 - January 30, 2010. With profound sadness, her family announces the peaceful passing of Dulcie Mary McCallum in Nova Scotia. She will be greatly missed by daughters, Judy (Michael) of Victoria; Sharon Dulcie of Halifax; her loving grandchildren, Malcolm (Anita), Todd (Marlies), of British Columbia; Juel (Jordan) Maerz of Seaforth; six great-grandchildren. Many thanks to Mum's caregiver for the past 15 years, Liz Abalos, who loved and cared for "Mrs. Mac" for many years. Born and raised in New Westminster to Bill and Ida Cross, Dulcie became a teacher and met the love of her life, Malcolm McCallum, when posted to her first teaching job in Queen Charlotte Islands. After the Second World War, Dulcie and Malcolm built a successful and highly respected business in the seafood industry, McCallum Sales Ltd. and happily raised their two girls. Tragically, Malcolm was killed in 1971 when he and Dulcie were on holiday in the Canary Islands. With dignity and grace, Dulcie continued her commitment to her family and friends and service to UNICEF, the Red Cross and her Church, while enjoying travel and happy times with her many friends and her devoted family. Dulcie Senior moved to Nova Scotia late last year and enjoyed her final time eating lobster rolls with her devoted granddaughter Juel and her daughter Dulcie junior. Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff at Dartmouth General Hospital Transitional Care Unit for their remarkable care. All of the staff fell in love with Dulcie and treated her with great dignity and respect. A memorial service will be held in West Vancouver in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her honour to the Dartmouth General Hospital Transitional Care Unit 325 Pleasant St., Dartmouth B2Y 4G8.
