George Osburne Myers

MYERS, George Osburne “Ossie” (77), Seal Harbour and formerly of Country Harbour, Guysborough County, died Saturday, March 06, 2010 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Hadleyville, he was a son of the late Ashley Solomon and Eva Mildred (Hadley) Myers. Ossie worked 18 seasons on the Great Lakes, retiring in 1972. He was then employed with G.M Guest Construction. Following this, Ossie drove a pulp truck for John Styger, operated a pulp loader for McRitchie Hayne and later worked with Tommy Hayne from 1981-1996. He was a warm and outgoing person who loved to play darts and cards. He is survived by companion Reta Manthorne, Seal Harbour; sons Ashley (Donna), Country Harbour Mines; Cory (Tracy), Alma; daughter Heather (Derek) Hayne, Country Harbour Mines; brother Wyman (Beulah), Country Harbour Mines; brother in law Alex Hodgson, Country Harbour; stepchildren Heather, Leona, Connie; grandchildren Aaron, Anil, Dwayne, Trina, Natasha, Courtney, Matthew; great grandchildren Makayla, Myers, Eva, Jack, Carley, Ava; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, the former Leona Christina Hodgson; brother John. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2pm in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Country Harbour. Burial in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Country Harbour.  Family flowers only please.
