HUDSON, Gladys Joan
Age 67, of Country
Harbour, Guysborough Co., passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015,
surrounded by her family in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital,
Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of Gladys May
(Cooke) and the late John Nesbeth Henderson. Gladys was a proud and
loving mother who dedicated herself to family, community, and God and
was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
She loved social gatherings of any kind and loved to host,
dance and entertain. Gladys was always the highlight at many local
variety concerts with her impersonations of Dolly Parton and Shania
Twain. She worked hard in all of her jobs and volunteer
commitments. Gladys remained connected to her roots
and loved to remember and talk about family and community history. She
was always abreast of the weather where she lived and where her family
members lived. Gladys had a sweet tooth and was an excellent baker.
Gladys never thought of herself as an animal lover however, she
ensured the birds and deer who visited her property were well fed. She
was Central Treasurer for Forbes Memorial Pastoral Charge and a Member
of King’s United Church Women. She had served as
an elder and Treasurer at the former Zion United Church, Country
Harbour. Gladys is survived by her husband, Henry; sons, Dennis,
Dartmouth; Dion, Toronto; sisters, Joan MacDougall, Williamswood; Ella
Wallace, Antigonish; Georgia Henderson, Merland; Eleanor (Brian)
Stewart, Park Falls, Pictou Co., brother, John(Mary), Park Falls; many
nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6-9
p.m. in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour. Funeral service
will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Country
Harbour with Rev. Sue Channen and Rev. Derek Elsworth officiating.
Interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. A reception will follow
in the Country Harbour Gun Club. Family flowers only please. Memorial
donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church,
King’s United Church, Loch Katrine or to a charity of your
choice. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate
