HUDSON, Gladys Joan Age 67, of Country Harbour, Guysborough Co., passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015, surrounded by her family in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of Gladys May (Cooke) and the late John Nesbeth Henderson. Gladys was a proud and loving mother who dedicated herself to family, community, and God and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.  She loved social gatherings of any kind and loved to host, dance and entertain. Gladys was always the highlight at many local variety concerts with her impersonations of Dolly Parton and Shania Twain. She worked hard in all of her jobs and volunteer commitments.  Gladys remained connected to her roots and loved to remember and talk about family and community history. She was always abreast of the weather where she lived and where her family members lived. Gladys had a sweet tooth and was an excellent baker. Gladys never thought of herself as an animal lover however, she ensured the birds and deer who visited her property were well fed. She was Central Treasurer for Forbes Memorial Pastoral Charge and a Member of King’s United Church Women.  She had served as an elder and Treasurer at the former Zion United Church, Country Harbour. Gladys is survived by her husband, Henry; sons, Dennis, Dartmouth; Dion, Toronto; sisters, Joan MacDougall, Williamswood; Ella Wallace, Antigonish; Georgia Henderson, Merland; Eleanor (Brian) Stewart, Park Falls, Pictou Co., brother, John(Mary), Park Falls; many nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held Sunday from 6-9 p.m. in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour. Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Country Harbour with Rev. Sue Channen and Rev. Derek Elsworth officiating. Interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Country Harbour Gun Club. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, King’s United Church, Loch Katrine or to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of the G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour. On-line condolences may be made at www.gwgiffin.com
