SANGSTER, Claude Whitman~ Age 81, New Harbour, Guysborough County. It is with great sadness that the family of Claude Whitman Sangster announces his passing after a brief illness with lung disease, on Friday, October 2, 2015. He died peacefully, with his family at his side, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. He was a son of the late Victor and Portia (Hull) Sangster. Claude was a lifelong resident of New Harbour. A commercial fisherman for 66 years, he was passionate about his work and remained keenly interested in all aspects of the industry until his final days. Claude will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Gladys (Dort) and his children, Anthony (Jackie), Ottawa, Ontario; Chandra (David) Nickerson, New Harbour; Joseph (Heather), Didsbury, Alberta; Grace (Shannon) Osburne, Moncton, New Brunswick; and Maria (Shawn) Clowater, Calgary, Alberta.  Claude will also be fondly remembered by  daughter-in-law Bonnie; eleven grandchildren, Anita (Jarrett), Scott (Julie), Adam (Allison), Adrian (Pamela), Candace, Joshua (Lianne), Laura, Megan, Ayden, Morgan, and Quentin; 5 great grandchildren, Sydney, Brooklyn, Hudson, Blake and Finlay; brothers, Winston (Lillian) and Irving (Pat); sisters, Madelaine Pellerin and Wilma (Ross) Munroe, many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Claude was predeceased in death by brothers, Ward, Hubert, and Conwell; and sisters Jamesine and Barbara. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Larry's River, followed by funeral mass at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Frank Pellerin officiating. There will be a private family burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital or The Lung Association of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W.
