Kennedy, Marcia Lorraine (Arnott) – Age 76, of Charlos Cove, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully Saturday, February 17, 2018 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital.  Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Commander James and Marion (Munroe) Arnott. Marcia lived life on her own terms; she was fiercely independent and faced adversity with courage and strength. Marcia was a highly respected, professional Legal Assistant, working until her retirement for her trusted friend, Louise Campbell.  Marcia was very talented in her field; she had a keen eye for detail, and excelled professionally.  Marcia was a past member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 117, where she served as Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Chairperson, and Zone Secretary. She served as the bartender for many years, where she became friends for life with veterans and local patrons, her legion community were like family.  Marcia was kind and caring, she valued the relationships she forged over the years, and treasured each and everyone who played a part in her life’s journey.  Marcia was very proud of the accomplishments of her twin girls.  Marcia is survived by her twin daughters, Laura (Brent) and Jane (Rob), grandchildren, Autumn, Tia, Tye, Dean, Tyler, Hannah, Joshua, and brother, Bob (Marie).  Marcia had many dear friends who were also considered family, Kenny and Dianne, Kenneth and Eileen, Win and Gordie, Brian and Mary, Cecil and Darlene, Jude, Chris, and Jennifer.  Marcia had a lifelong love for animals, and her pets surely loved her.  Her trusted companion Maggie has found a new home with her niece Mallory.  Special thank you to all the staff of Guysborough Memorial Hospital who made Marcia feel well taken care of, she knew each and everyone by name. It was hard for Marcia to lose her independence, her beautiful palliative care room made her end of life journey the best it could be.  There will be no funeral as per Marcia’s wishes. A private graveside service will be held in Whitehead in the summer, with a Legion farewell.  Donations in Marcia’s memory can be made to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Program. Arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of the G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour. On-line condolences may be made at www.gwgiffin.com.
