The family of Stephen Eugene Kaiser is heartbroken to
announce his sudden passing at 64 years of age. Born in Sherbrooke in
1953, he was a son of Eugene Kaiser and the late Phyllis Kaiser.
Stephen resided in Port Bickerton, Halifax and most recently Truro.
Stephen was thoroughly enjoying his retirement from The Halifax
Chronicle Herald after a long and successful 37 year career. He
started with the Herald in 1976 with the job of changing the flags on
top of the office on Argyle Street. Stephen retired as Foreman of the
Pressroom and member of the Graphic Communications International Union
42N. He spoke fondly of the friendships and camaraderie with his
co-workers and shared countless stories of his work in the Pressroom
over the years. After retiring, Stephen spent his days hiking,
cooking, photographing, going to church, spending time with his
grandchildren and travelling. He was grateful for every day and
strived to be better than the day before. He had a passion for helping
people live their lives to their best. "Grampy" Stephen took
pride in handing down pieces of who he was to his grandsons, Lawson
and Thomas, whom he often referred to as his most cherished legacies.
Stephen was the eldest son of Eugene Kaiser and the late Phyllis
Kaiser; older brother of Susan (Bill) Sampson, Martins River; Julie
(Stephen) Green, Toronto; Debra (Don) McMillan, Newmarket ON; Russell,
Dartmouth; and Helena, Dartmouth; father to Stephanie MacIntosh,
Dartmouth; and Samantha Demont Kaiser, Hubbards; grandfather
to his adored grandsons, Lawson and Thomas; and uncle to Greg, Ashley,
Amanda, Katie, Emily, Jenny and Erin. Stephen had "cousins by the
dozens" whom he enjoyed seeing at family get-togethers. He was
predeceased by his wife, Susan DeMont. Stephen will be deeply missed
by his family. One of his favourite quotes: "Ain’t no
quittin’ along the way. Not by me. Not by
you!" We know he will be greeted in heaven with open
arms! No visitation will be held. Funeral service will be held
Saturday September 22nd at 11am in St James
Anglican Church, Sherbrooke with Rev. Kristin MacKenzie officiating.
Interment in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Sherbrooke. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations to your favourite charity would be
appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the care of G.W. Giffin
Funeral Home Ltd., 34 Main Street, Sherbrooke, N.S. Online condolences
may be offered at www.gwgiffin.com.
May the soul of Stephen, and the souls of the faithful
departed, rest in peace.
