A committal service for Bertha Sophia Munroe will be held Saturday July 13th at 11:00 a.m. in Whitehead Cemetery with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. In case of rain the committal srevice will be held in the Anglican Church in Whitehead.

Munroe, Bertha Sophia Age 93, of Whitehead, Guysborough County passed away peacefully Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. She was born on June 14, 1925 in Yankie Harbour, Whitehead. She was the only daughter of the late Horace and Clarissa (Munroe) Peitzsche. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Bertha was a lovely cook and baked beautiful homemade bread. She often made boiled dinners, which everyone enjoyed. She was an avid quilter and gave most of her quilts to her family and friends. She enjoyed socializing at Bingos and card plays. Her happiest times were when she had a houseful of company and was serving them good homemade cooking. Christmas was her favourite time of the year, getting the house decorated and baking for weeks before and having family home. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Carol) Beaverbank; Roger, Dartmouth; grandchildren Richard (Tara), Michelle (Aaron), Jenna and Tauna, great grandchildren Tyler and Drew. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence and a grandson in infancy. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Whitehaven Community Center, Whitehead with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. A reception will follow the service.  Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Whitehaven Community Center. The family would like to thank the people who visited her while in Milford Haven and all the staff at Milford Haven for their special care.
