MacLean, June Faye Age 89 of
Newtown, Guysborough Co., passed away, with her family by her side, in
St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, on Sunday, April
21, 2019. Born in Newtown, she was a daughter of the late Ross and
Nona (Rhodenizer) Jewers. June started working at the age of 13. Her
jobs were varied, including cooking in woods camps, nursing homes,
taking in sewing and upholstering. She built her own house, doing the
work herself. June is survived by son, David (Carolyn) DuPont;
daughters, Ann (Rod) Chisholm, Betty Sharp, Judy (Jim) Reeves, Lynn
Gardiner; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, 1
great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jewers; many nieces,
nephews and their families. June was predeceased by her husband,
Daniel MacLean; a daughter and a son in infancy; sister, Joyce (Edgar)
Nickerson; brothers, Carl and Earl (Marion) Jewers. Funeral service
will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Bethel Community Church, South
Lochaber with Rev. Freda Steeves officiating. Interment will take
place at a later date in Newtown Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
