McGrath, Minnie Agnes, Age 86, of Sherbrooke and formerly of Aspen, Guysborough County passed away with her family at her side on Thursday, August 1, 2019, in High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. She was the wife of the late Willie McGrath.  Born in Indian Harbour Lake, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Bennett) Langille. Minnie was a knitting machine; it would be very rare to see her without her knitting in hand. She shared her passion and love of knitting with everyone she knew. Her knitting reached many places throughout the country and the world, from Germany, Newfoundland, British Columbia, U.S.A. and even India. So many people have beautiful hand knit socks, mittens, scarves, and sweaters that our momma made. It was very important to her to share her knitting with people in need, she did not have a lot to give, but with her open heart she gave the best she could. Her knitting went to help children at the IWK Hospital, Christmas Daddies, anywhere there was a need; or just because she loved you and wanted you to have something beautiful. Our mother touched the lives of so many people; she is loved dearly by many. Minnie is survived by daughters, Marie MacLennan, Aspen; Katherine Simon, Aspen; Martha McGrath, Roberts Creek, BC; sons, George (Hazel), Larry’s River; Blair (Chris), Owen Sound, ON.; Douglas (Joan), Aspen; Andy (Patty) Aspen, Ricky (Lisa), Antigonish; Hector (Aseneth), Truro; grandchildren, Robie, Russell, Jamie, Hector Paul, Cindy, Garrett, Margaret Ann, Amy Dawn, Jammie-Lee, Tara, Morgan, Lloyd, Christopher, Natasha, Katalyn, Brittany great-grandchildren, Eden, Chase, Kaili, Paula, Asa, Lexi, Emmit, Nolan, Willy, Cayden, Jonathon, Baylen, Madden, Thomas, Liam; sisters, Martha Kaiser; Katie Smith; brother-in-law, Ernie Jordan; sisters-in-law, Kathy Langille, Louella Langille; many nieces, nephews and their families.  She was predeceased by son-in-law, Paul MacLennan; brothers, Irwin, Burt, Alex, Frank; sisters, Mary, Leta; brothers-in-law, Bob, Graham; and sister-in-law, Debbie. Visitation will be held Saturday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm in Kirk Memorial United Church, Glenelg, from where funeral service will take place Sunday at 11:00 am with Rev. Derek Elsworth officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen. The family would like to send a very special thank you to the staff and residents of High-Crest for showing our mother such love, care, and kindness during her stay in the home, and the kindness extended to Mom’s large family during our most difficult time of her passing. Memorial donations may be made to High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care, Kirk Memorial United Church, or Evergreen Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W. Giffin Funeral Home Ltd, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour. Online condolences may be made at www.gwgiffin.com
