Langille, Edmund Roy, Age 84, formerly of Eight Island Lake, Guysborough County passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 in High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. Born in Isaac’s Harbour, he was a son of the late Almon and Edith (Cooke) Langille. Dad began his working days on the "lake boats" on the Great Lakes in Ontario before taking a job at the Terrance Bay Pulp Mill. He then moved back to Nova Scotia to begin a career in the forestry industry. Here he worked with various logging companies before starting his own company, E&R Langille Contracting with his eldest son Ronald, of which he worked until he retired. Dad was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying many days and nights at his camp at Tom Mann Lake. Some of his favourite pastimes were scuba diving, trapping, hunting, snowmobiling, and fishing. He loved his home on Eight Island Lake where, if you stopped in for a visit, you would find him sitting by the window watching the lake and the wildlife that surrounded it. Dad was a well-known storyteller; even as he aged his ability to captivate a room never faltered. He is survived by his former wife, Patricia Fenton; sons, Ronald (Laurie), New Glasgow; Darren (Jacquie), Thorburn; Craig (Cathy), Antigonish; daughter, Darlene (Michael)Trail, B.C.; sister, Mariea (George) Stewart, Country Harbour; brothers, Barry Stone, Dartmouth; Harvey (Karen) Stone, Yarmouth; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Lynne Alexander; daughter, Lisa; sisters, Bernice Salsman, Annette Hayne, and Ruby Pitts. The Langille family would like to thank the staff at High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care for their outstanding care of Edmund during his time there. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour. Interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour. On-line condolences may be made at www.gwgiffin.com.
