Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann Dort
Dort, Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann Age 61 of South Lochaber, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at home on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. Born in Sherbrooke, she was a daughter of Lorna (Laing) Hiltz and the late William Hiltz. At the time of her passing, Jackie was Councillor for District 6, Goshen since 2001 and Deputy Warden since 2016 for The Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s. In her role as Councillor, Jackie was dedicated to helping anyone who needed advice or assistance. She was a hairdresser for more than 30 years. She was coordinator of the CAP sites in Guysborough County. Jackie served on the Board of Directors for the Goshen Community Centre and Goshen Fire Department. She was a leader of Girl Guides, Lochaber as "Brown Owl" for more than 10 years. Jackie enjoyed summers at the cottage and spending time with her precious grandson, Kory. She was very devoted to her husband, Clarence; children, Robert and Melissa; her mother, Lorna and her sister, Ellen. Jackie is survived by her husband, Clarence; son, Robert; daughter, Melissa; grandson, Kory; sister, Ellen (James) Harpell; mother-in-law, Mildred Cameron; many brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews and their families. Donations in Jackie’s memory may be made to the Goshen Community Centre, Goshen Fire Department or to a local organization of your choice. A private family celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at her home. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W.
