Elizabeth "Joan" Crooks
Crooks, Elizabeth "Joan" Age 79 of Halifax and formerly of Sherbrooke, Guysborough County, passed away in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Avis (Crooks) Kaiser. Joan worked as a PCW at the former MacKaracher Nursing Home, Sherbrooke; volunteered for several years, and loved the many friends she made, with the Salvation Army, Halifax; she enjoyed playing darts and dancing. Joan is survived by son, Stan (Valerie), Cole Harbour; daughter, Evelyn (Fred), New Glasgow; grandchildren, Holly (Robert) Cook, Sherbrooke; Justin (Desiree) Jack, Cape Breton; great-grandchildren, Destin, Rogan, Kenzie; sister, Lois Kaiser (Lionel Hemlow), Westville; many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by daughter, Crystal Jack; great-grandson, Leo Cook; sisters, Debbie (Alex) Langille, Gladys (Ira) Dort; brothers Elmer Kaiser and Ellsworth Kaiser. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Fisherman’s Harbour Cemetery with Pastor Barry Jack officiating. Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, Halifax or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W.
