Sheehan, Joanne Audrey, Age 60,
of New Harbour, peacefully passed away in Guysborough Memorial
Hospital on Thursday, October 23, 2014 with her loving family by her
side. She was the beloved wife of 41 years to Daniel, loving mother to
Daniel (Ashley), Greenwood and Gerald (Krista), Fall River.
Joanne’s pride and joy were her 5 grandchildren, whom she
will hold close to her heart forever, Ryley, Cole, Owen, Cali and
Luke. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Lillian (Wright) and
the late Ross Simms. After graduating from NSCC
with a secretarial diploma, Joanne began her working life by
travelling to Pine Point N.W.T where she worked and lived for four
years. She returned home to New Harbour in 1979 and shortly
after seeing her children to school, she began her career with W.T.
Grover Fisheries. She recently retired after 25
wonderful years with the Grover family. Joanne made an
impact in the community she loved by being with Scouts Canada for 25
years as cub Master "Baloo" and Assistant District
Commissioner for the area. She could be found volunteering
at the community hall, church and contributed to many social events
with her warm smile and willingness to help out. Joanne was
also a member of the Church Of The Good Shepherd, holding the office
position of treasurer, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Tor Bay
Branch #117. She has left a lasting memory on all those whom she met.
She loved spending time with her family at the camp on Ocean
Lake, camping during the summer months, never missed an activity her
boys participated in. Joanne thoroughly enjoyed having a cup
of tea with her friends and family. Besides her parents, she is
survived by brothers George (Dot) Simms, Kenzieville, John (Edna)
Simms, New Harbour; Sisters, Sherry Burke, Dartmouth, Lori
(Danny) Sangster, New Harbour and Susan (Tyson) Gerrior,
Blue Mountain; her special nephew Robert as he
always called her 2mom. She was predeceased by a sister
Rebecca in infancy. Visitation will be held in the Church of the Good
Shepherd, Tor Bay, NS on Sunday, October 26 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to
9pm and from where funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27
at 11am with Rev. Darroch Fagan officiating. Burial will be
in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Sylvester, Pictou Co, NS.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the
Church of the Good Shepherd or the charity of your choice. Funeral
