A Joint funeral service for Peggy and
Malcolm will be held Saturday April 4th at 2:00 p.m. in the Sonora
Baptist Church.
MacKenzie, Ruth Marguerite
"Peggy" Age 93 of Sonora, passed away in St.
Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke on Tuesday, March 17,
2015. She was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Nellie
(Pride) Kingwell. Peggy was employed for her entire career with H.H.
Marshall Ltd. in Halifax. She was a member of Fort Massey United
Church, Halifax and a supporter of Sonora Baptist Church. Peggy was a
strong voice for the Liberal Party of Canada, particularly Pierre and
Justin Trudeau. Her terrific sense of humour, love of family and
strong moral compass will be missed by both her family and friends.
Peggy is survived by her brother, Malcolm Kingwell, Sonora; several
nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William C.
MacKenzie, brothers, Victor, John and Owen. Visitation will be held
from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, St.
Mary’s Chapel, Sherbooke. Funeral service will held on
Friday at 2 p.m. in Sonora Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Pearce
officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Sonora at a later date.
Donations in Peggy’s memory may be made to Sonora Baptist
Church or St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Funeral
