Clarke, Ronald Robert – Age 79, of Chester, and formerly of Sherbrooke, passed away quietly on May 15, 2015 at Shoreham Village, Chester. Ron was a son of the late Robert and Florence (Helpard) Clarke. Ron was self-taught and could fix anything. As a young man, he had a passion for cars and spent several years as a body-man then worked as the GM of Canavan’s Insurance Adjusters Halifax, and at the end of his working years returned to the body shop as a foreman for Fairley & Stevens in Dartmouth. After retiring, Ron moved to Sherbrooke. He was Warden and Parish Warden of St. James Anglican Church. Ron had a great love of the outdoors, enjoyed trout and salmon fishing; feeding and watching the birds and loved cutting and piling wood. Ron never talked a lot but was always thankful for any service or kindness shown to him. In 2007, Ron moved to New Ross with Lorraine, where he enjoyed renovating their home and tinkering in the shed or heading out with one of his chainsaws to clean up fallen trees. Ron is survived by his beloved companion Lorraine Hiltz, New Ross; daughters, Karen (Andy) Tannahill, Lysa (Michael) April, Rhona (Curtis) Carroll; grandchildren Kyle, Jesse, Allan, Samantha; sister, Alyce Walker, a nieceand nephews. Cremation has taken place and services will be held on Wednesday, May 27th at 1 p.m. in St. James Church, Sherbrooke and on Friday, June 5th at 2 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations in Ron’s memory can be made to Feed Nova Scotia or St. James Anglican Church, Sherbrooke. Special thanks to staff at Shoreham Village, family and friends for all their comfort and support.
