McLaren, Rickey Hudson, Age 73, of Country Harbour, Guysborough Co., passed away Friday, November 26, 2021. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Erma (Hudson) McLaren. He was a pillar of the community and for the last 10 years worked as Councillor for District 7 of the Municipality of Guysborough. Previous to this he ran his own businesses, McLaren Pulpwood Contracting Ltd. and Rick's Place.  "Ranger Rick" lived a full life.  In addition to his political and business pursuits, he also was known as an incredible host. He loved a good conversation and was renowned for his funny stories (and maybe a few tall tales), cooking for his guests, and playing cards and games.  He could make anyone laugh.  The "Original Bucc" loved hunting, visiting the casino, watching the Blue Jays and Canadiens. His legacy is the love that he gave to all those around him and that remains with us. He is survived by his wife Moira; sons, Martin (Donita), Colin (Corina), Marcus (Tracey), Justin (Janet); grandchildren, Tyler (Beth), Caden, Brody, Andrea (Braden), Mia, James, Anna, Jack, Charlotte, and Greta; siblings, Julie (Gary) Gammon, Jim (Helen) McLaren, Amanda (Keith) Skinner, Steven (Debbie) McLaren; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was the most loving husband, father, grandfather (best grumpy ever), uncle, brother and friend. A Celebration of Rickey’s Life will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Country Harbour Gun Club with Lewis MacIntosh officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. All COVID-19 restrictions will be followed including proof of full vaccination. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour.
