Smith, Dorothy Beryl of Borneo,
Guysborough County passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on
Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Dorothy
was born in Dartmouth and grew up in Woodside. She was a daughter of
the late Irvin and Ethel Harnish. Dorothy loved to play cards and
darts, going to tops, and the Seniors Games in Liscomb. She loved to
bake especially with her kids and grandkids. Dorothy was a very
sociable person as she loved to tell stories and spend time with her
family, friends, and her beloved dog, Abby. She worked in Sherbrooke
Village, the Fish Plant in Port Bickerton, Department of Highways, and
the Goshen Restaurant. Dorothy will be missed dearly by her children,
Linda, Brett (Sheila), Bart (Lynn), Scott, and Colin. She will also be
missed by her grandchildren, Jasmin, Jesse, Chad, Shaun, Robin, Lacey,
Steve, Lindsey, Brandon, Tessa, Laura and Emma; as well as her
great-grandchildren, Linden, Maddy, Kayla, Asher, Logan, Jace, Norah,
Molly, Kallie, Sadie, Ethan, Addison, and Ben. She was also
predeceased by her loving husband, Scott; sons, Steve and Joey;
brothers, Ray, Alvin, Murray, and Jack; sisters, Hazel, Hope and Jean.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held
on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Country Harbour Gun Club with
Lewis MacIntosh officiating. Interment will take place in Evergreen
Cemetery, Cross Roads Country Harbour. Memorial
donations may be made to the Evergreen Cemetery Fund, Cross Roads,
Country Harbour or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral
arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W.
Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country
Harbour.
