Mahoney, Mabel Jean age 75 of
Lower South River, and formerly of Loch Katrine, Antigonish County. It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife and
mother, Mabel Jean Mahoney who passed away peacefully surrounded by
her loving family on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in New Glasgow,
she was a daughter of the late Harold and Doris (Skoke) Langley of
Trenton. Mabel was a graduate of secretarial school. She spent 30 plus
years of her working life at the Lobster Treat Restaurant managing the
office. She loved to do arts and crafts as well as travel especially
down south to Florida. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, sister and friend. Mabel will be lovingly
remembered by her one true love for almost sixty years, Leith; her
son, Tim (Michelle). Gram will be especially missed by her adoring
grandchildren, Jeremy (Melanie), Cameron, Ava; great-granddaughter,
Brooke; loving sister to Barbara (Jim) Lerikos, Harold (Marilyn)
Langley, Steven and Phillip Langley; sisters-in-law, Carol Mitchell,
Marion and Margaret Mahoney; brothers-in-law, Terry (Theresa) and Glen
(Ramona) Mahoney. She will be fondly remembered by her numerous
nieces, nephews and their families. Mabel was predeceased by
sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Kenda Langley; brothers-in-law, Ernie
Mitchell, John and Stephen Mahoney. A Celebration of Life Service will
be held Sunday, at 2 p.m. in King’s United Church, Loch
Katrine with Rev. Meredith Marple officiating. A private family
committal will follow in King’s United Church Cemetery, Loch
Katrine. A reception will follow in the church sanctuary. The family
wishes to express a special thank you to all the doctors and nurses in
the Stroke Unit and Palliative Care Unit for their love, care and
compassion shown to Mabel and her family. If so desired, memorial
donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke
Foundation, King’s United Church Memorial Fund or St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Funeral
