Ronald Theodore Volk Age 94, formerly of Goshen and Eight Island Lake, Guysborough County. Dad died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in The Birches Long Term Care Residence, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Parkhill, Ontario; Dad moved to Halifax when he joined the Navy as an Aviation Technician. He continued his keen interest in aviation after leaving the service. The family later moved to Lorne where he took up farming and from there enjoyed a variety of other occupations. He married Edie in 1982 and settled in Goshen. He thoroughly enjoyed attending flea markets - always selling, more often buying! In recent years, he took up woodworking and crafting metal silhouettes. Dad continued to have a sharp mind, was witty, an avid reader and was always wanting to try or learn something new. He will be missed. He is survived by his children, Alan Volk, Woodstock, ON; Cheryle (Bryan) Quinn, East Lawrencetown, NS; Tom Volk (Betty), Beaumont, AB; Karen MacGregor, New Glasgow, NS; Edie’s children: Lennie (Sue), Ricky, Aulden (Barb), Sandy Reid, Pam Reid, Carole (Lee) Smith, Darlene Peters (Phil), Joan (John) MacDonald, Debra (Carl) Hughes, Bonnie (Wayne) Yaussie; brothers, Bill Cochrane and Ken Cochrane, 7 grandchildren, 23 step-grandchildren and a plethora of great-grandchildren. Ron was predeceased by his first wife, Carol (Carter) and second wife, Edith (Reid); son, Ken; sisters, Thelma Johnson and Shirley Keyes. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6-8  p.m. in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour. Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Lochaber with Rev. Charles Cameron officiating. Interment at a later date in St. Patrick's Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The SPCA or Coastal K9 Rescue Society. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Goshen Community Centre. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W. Giffin Funeral Home.
