HAYNE, David Lewis age 68, of Cross Roads Country Harbour passed away at home peacefully of natural causes on Monday, September 25, 2023. Born on the West Side of Country Harbour, he was a son of the late Francis and Greta (Mason) Hayne. David was a kind and giving person who loved his family and friends with all his heart. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He worked in the woods with his family and with the MacLaughlins. He was a DJ (The Dualing Turn Tables), playing for many dances over the years. Horses were always a big part of his life, leading him to a career as a Farrier. David was a great story teller who could draw you in, making you feel like you were there. He wrote many articles for the Guysborough Journal about local people and history. He loved music and traveled to many concerts and Blues Festivals. David is survived by his children, Melanie Hayne (Mike Archibald), Halifax; Ian (Tara), Saskatoon; Dylan, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Rohen, Ada, Ashton, Abby and Greta; brothers, Eric (Julie Fenton), Danny (Lynn), Bradley (Wendy), all of Country Harbour; Alan (Wanda), Carrolls Corner; sisters, Ruth (Bryant) Long, Giants Lake; Carol (Dale Hubley), Marla (Colin) MacLean, both of Antigonish; partner, Teresa Langille; uncle, Victor (Elizabeth) Mason, Goshen; aunts, Shirley (Harlie) Mills, Roxie Mason, both of Ontario; Maxine White, New Glasgow many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. David was predeceased by his brother, Eugene; sister, Tracey; sister-in-law, Margie Hayne; niece, Janna Hayne; aunts and uncles, Vera (Merritt) Feltmate; Edgar Mason, Earl (Bertha) Mason, Wesley Mason, Bob White, Louise (George) Harris, Maggie Arsenault, Ted (Annie) Hayne, John (Elsie) Hayne, and Critch (Evelyn) Hayne. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6-9 p.m. in the Country Harbour Gun Club from where funeral service will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Lewis MacIntosh officiating. Interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to L.U.C.Y.
