PORTER, Leonetta Winnifred age 88 of Country Harbour, Guysborough Co. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister on Saturday, February 17, 2024, with family by her side, in High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. Born in Isaac’s Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Erna (Davidson) Langille. When Mom was a young girl, her mother passed away and she helped to raise her siblings. One of the things she did at the age of 13 was make bread while standing on a stool to knead the dough. Mom loved her family, always making sure they had good meals, clothes and special holidays. She was a wonderful baker and cook and was a very social person who loved people coming to have tea and something to eat. Mom worked at Bickerton Industries for 20 years and then at High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. Leonetta is survived by her sons, Ricky (Darla) Porter, Port Bickerton; Donnie (Phoebe) Porter, Country Harbour; daughters, Debra (Wendall) Hudson, Country Harbour; Coreen (Brian) Kaiser, Port Bickerton; Wanda Doyle (Bob), Guysborough; step-daughter, Sherlyn (Bev) Porter, Cumberland, Ont.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Colleen) Langille, Country Harbour, Darrell (Barbara) Langille, Isaac’s Harbour; sister, Catherine "Kitty" (Donald) Dixon, Sackville; sister-in-law, Donna Langille, Isaac’s Harbour; sons-in-law, Frank Manthorne, Seal Harbour; Ronnie Doyle, Erinvlle; many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard; son, Kenny; daughter, Brenda Manthorne; brother, Cecil Langille; sister, Eileen Beavis. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, from 1-2 p.m. in the Country Harbour Gun Club with funeral service at 2 p.m. with Lewis MacIntosh officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
