HINES, Gordon Eugene age 86 of Country Harbour, Guysborough County passed away on Wednesday, April, 3, 2024 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by his family. Born in Country Harbour, he was a son of the late Walter and Elsie (Hudson) Hines. Gordie was a retired woodsman, having work in the pulpwood industry for over 40 years as a cutter and contractor. He loved spending time with his family, who were his pride and joy, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He lived a simple life, enjoyed nature, going to the camp, hunting, playing cards, doing puzzles, watching TV, or listening to Classic Newfoundland music. He was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Country Harbour. Gordie is survived by his wife, Helen (Flick); sons, Greg (Willie), Giants Lake; Graham (Terry), New Glasgow; Benny, Hanna, Alb.; daughters, Angie Henderson, Giants Lake; Marsha (Blair), Isaac’s Harbour; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clancy (Helen) Hines, Brantford, Ont.; Walter (Jeanette) Hines, Country Harbour; Delbert Hines, Brantford, Ont.; sisters, Verna Styger, Antigonish, Ethel (Scott) MacDonald, Newtown; sister-in-law, Helen Hines, Brantford, Ont.; many nieces, nephews and their families. Gordie was predeceased by his son-in-law, Carmen Henderson; sisters, Cecelia (Graham) Kirk, Laurine "Tootsie" (Bobby) Cunningham, Maisie (Clinton) Phinney; brother, Bruce Hines, sisters-in-law, Eileen Hines, Norma Hines; brother-in-law, John Styger. Visitation will be held in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Country Harbour on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Natasha Brubaker and Pastor John Luten officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery Fund.
