Mom was very proud of her grandchildren. Below is a little memory from each of them:
Kaitlyn: I remember having overnights with Nanny when I was younger. She was always so generous and always made sure I had more than what I needed. She used to take me to church with her. She was such a great conversationalist as well. We could talk for hours or even the full day, I’m sure, if we had the time. I will miss those talks we had.
Ashley: I have A LOT of fond memories but my "Don’t Tell" memories stand out the most as its humorous now that I’m older: When we (me, mom & dad) lived with Nanny & Grampie, I’d always be the last one eating and I HAD to sit there until I ate every single bite. This was usually plated for me by Grampie or my dad. One evening after supper, I was sitting there a LONG time and Grampie kept watching to make sure I finished eating, from the living room. Nanny was cleaning up and she was baking something so she was back and forth every odd time she passed me she snuck some food off my plate and would wink at me. After the news was over, Grampie got up to go to the shed and he’d come over to the table and leans down on it to look at me and he says now your going to eat every bit of that or no desert and when I come back you should be done. The second the door closes, Nanny sets down a plate of pie and takes my plate away. She told me to "eat it before yer father gets back". She tossed my supper out to the gulls lol…. I finished most of the pie as I was really full and nanny says "Don’t Tell".
Brandon: My memory is when Nan and Mom had a surprise birthday party for me when I lived in Middleton with Nan. They scared the dickens out of me when everyone jumped out at me. Nan was always there one way or another. I will miss her terribly.
Haley: I remember making bread with nanny and her always saying how dirty my bread would come out but I was so proud of it that she wouldn’t say anything to me. Always proud of me even when I make dirty bread rolls… lol
Nicholas: My memory is the trip we took to PEI with Brandon. We walked the board walk. There was some "see and touch tanks" with lobsters, crabs, starfish, jellyfish etc. We went out to eat at a pub on the boardwalk. It was my first time at a place like that and I thought it was awesome. We had a great time. We stayed in a motel not too far from the bridge but we had traveled across the ferry and went back on the ferry. I was able to play my PlayStation 2 in the back the whole time when you had that big brown GMC SUV that was fully loaded, I tell ya!!! We got to go see some heritage museums while we stayed. We got to see some interesting things. I always liked being called in from under the step for molasses cookies and milk (and don’t forget the butter) You picked up one of the first car play sets at a flea market up the road in Goldboro. That’s when I started bringing a lot more of my own toys down. I kept the grass mowed a long time so I could play there in the summertime. Love you Nan xo.
