HARRIS, Wayne Archibald Age 63 of Sherbrooke, Guysborough Co., passed away on September 10, 2024, suddenly at home with family. Born in Harbour Breton, Newfoundland. He grew up in Furby's Cove and then resettled in Gaultois. He was a son of the late Archibald and Frances (Forsey) Harris. Wayne start working at a fish plant in Gaultois, Newfoundland at the young age of 12 and at 17, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Forces starting with his training in CFB Cornwallis as a supply technician. He was very proud to serve his country as part of the Royal Canadian Air Force and worked with all elements of the Canadian Forces. He held several posts within Gander, Winnipeg, Halifax, Ottawa and Kingston where he retired in 2017 after 38 years service. During his 38 years he served overseas including Golan Heights, Dubai, Afghanistan and Kuwait, with NATO missions while serving aboard the HMCS Margaree and HMCS Halifax. While stationed on the HMCS Halifax he was part of the Swiss Air recovery mission. Upon retirement he worked as a contractor for DND until the day of his passing. When at home he enjoyed fishing, hunting and going out on his boat and by the fire or in the Da’ Shed with partner in crime Sandy and puppy girl Jemma. Wayne is survived by his wife, Sandy (Knee); sons, Justin (Nicole), Glenn, Kyle (Tara), Travis, daughter, Melissa (Lee) Watson; grandchildren, Cody, Ryleigh, Savanna, Lacey, Emily, Amelia; brothers, Fred (Darlene), Garfield (Louise), Calvin (Glenda), Colin (Cindy), Bernie, Corey (Carolyn), Howard Leeco; sisters, Christine Meade (Mike), Sarah (Shawn) Ruggles; special nephew Ryall; sister-in-law, Carolyn McGrath (Roger); many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his son, Tommy Gosse; brother, Terry Harris; mother-in-law, Della Forward and sister-in-law, Evelyn Leeco (McDonald). A Celebration of Life was held at the home of Wayne and Sandy Harris, on Saturday September 21, 2024. Arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W.
