
MACARTHUR, Lloyd Herman "Big Mac", 92, of Lower Sackville and formerly of Goldboro, Guys Co. passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. He was a son of the late Herman and Marion (Sponagle) MacArthur.
Lloyd was an avid hunter, fisher, trapper, boater, and loved outdoor activities, particularly golf. His heart was foremost at the old homestead in Goldboro, where he spent many summers after retirement. Very talented in mechanics and carpentry, he was always building and repairing things.
He had successful careers working as a Diesel Engineer on the Great Lakes, an Inspector for the Department of Transportation, Registry of Motor Vehicles, eventually retiring from Brinks Canada in 1998.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ethel (Worth); whose unconditional love and unwavering devotion in caring for him with a grace that touched the hearts of all who knew them; his children, Sherry and Larry; grandson, Liam; great grandchildren, Aurora, Emma, James and Ruby; his sister, Bette Strople; plus numerous relatives who adored him. He is remembered by many people.
Lloyd was predeceased by his brothers, Scott, Donald "Chute"; sister, Helen Stevens, and granddaughter, Megan Barron.
